SxS™ PRO offers industry's fastest data-transfer speed
New milestones & new productsSony announced the launch of its new SxS PRO™ memory cards for professional camcorders. The 8GB SBP-8 and 16GB SBP-16 cards feature industry-leading data transfer speed technology compliant with the ExpressCard™ standard. Sony will adopt the ultra fast SxS PRO™ memory card in its XDCAM EX™ series professional camcorders, to be launched at the same time.
SxS PRO™ is based on the SxS™ memory card specification*, developed for high speed data transfer. The new memory card improves workflow efficiency by reducing transfer times for large data files such as high-definition video, enabling rapid transfer speed of 800 Mbps**. Its compact size contributes to the design of much lighter and smaller camcorders while excellent reliability gives users more opportunity to shoot footage in the harshest of conditions.
Key Benefits
Industry's fastest data transfer speed at 800 Mbps.
SxS PRO™ complies with the ExpressCard™ industry standard, adopted by PC manufacturers to replace the legacy PC Card™ format. It's the first ever PCI Express™ solid-state storage media and features about twice as fast data transfer speeds as legacy PC Card interfaces. By connecting directly to computer systems through a high-speed PCI-Express™ bus and with optimized technology protocols for controlling communication between hardware and card, SxS PRO™ achieves rapid data transfer rates of 800 Mbps. This reduces the duration of non-linear video editing, even when handling large high-definition video files.
Compact Size
Using ExpressCard™/34 modules, SxS PRO™ is half the size of a standard PC Card at just 34mm in width, 5mm in height and 75mm in length. This enables the design of professional camcorders to be far smaller and lighter, without compromising high storage capacity. Despite its compact size, the 16GB SxS PRO™ card can record approximately one hour of video with Sony XDCAM EX camcorders. High Reliability for professional users
With its high reliability and durability, SxS PRO™ offers professional camcorder users even more opportunity to shoot in tough conditions or environments.
The 8GB SBP-8 will be priced around €400 and the 16GB SBP-16 around €700. Both models will be available in November 2007***.
