Core Exchange Program (FRB)
Sony provides a Core Exchange Field Replacement Block (FRB) program to support selected Sony Business Solutions and Systems Company products. Self-servicing customers may purchase refurbished printed circuit boards, power supplies, and electro-mechanical assemblies and receive a core credit upon return of the faulty part. The parts in this program may be either new or refurbished.
Sony Core Exchange FRB Service Includes:
Conditions for FRB Exchange. Shipping label must be completed as noted in the instructions enclosed with your shipment. The core part must be packaged to ensure there is no damage during shipment. Defective FRBs exhibiting any of the following conditions will not be accepted for exchange:
Exchanged defective FRB's returned to Sony which exhibit any of the preceding conditions will be returned to the Servicer and the core credit will be rejected. All FRB's accepted for exchange become the property of Sony Electronics Inc.

FRB's Are Covered By same warranty as repair parts.

- Selected Circuit Boards and Assemblies
- Prepaid Return Freight
- Defective Unit Return Shipping Instructions and Prepared Shipping Labels
- Emergency and after-hours Ordering and Shipment Dispatch (emergency and after-hours surcharge rates apply)
Conditions for FRB Exchange. Shipping label must be completed as noted in the instructions enclosed with your shipment. The core part must be packaged to ensure there is no damage during shipment. Defective FRBs exhibiting any of the following conditions will not be accepted for exchange:
- Cracked printed circuit boards
- Damaged power supply assemblies
- Evidence of foreign liquids or materials on mechanical assemblies or printed circuit boards
- Pluggable IC's missing and/or placed in the incorrect socket locations causing extensive printed circuit board damage
- Lifted land traces on printed circuit boards due to improper soldering techniques or attempted modifications
- Modifications found on the FRB which are not specifically authorized by Sony
- FRB's damaged through accident, neglect, misuse or abuse
Exchanged defective FRB's returned to Sony which exhibit any of the preceding conditions will be returned to the Servicer and the core credit will be rejected. All FRB's accepted for exchange become the property of Sony Electronics Inc.
